Cards
A Card is a digital payment instrument issued by the CleverCards Platform that enables cardholders to access and spend funds stored in a Card Account. Cards are issued as digital-first Mastercards and are designed for seamless integration into mobile and online payment experiences.
Each CleverCards-issued Card includes standard card attributes such as:
- Primary Account Number (PAN) – the card number
- Expiry Date – formatted as
MM/YY - CVV – the card verification value for secure transactions
- Cardholder Name – typically the recipient of the funds
Cards are linked to a corresponding Card Account, which holds either a balance (in the case of prepaid cards) or a spending limit (for debit card programs). The card draws directly from the associated Card Account when making transactions.
Digital-First and Wallet-Ready
CleverCards issues digital-first cards, which are immediately available for use upon activation—without the need for a physical card.
Digital Cards can be used for:
- Online transactions (e.g. e-commerce purchases)
- In-store payments via digital wallets on supported mobile devices
The CleverCards Platform supports card tokenization, allowing cardholders to securely add their card to leading digital wallets, including:
- Apple Pay
- Google Pay
- Samsung Pay
- Fitbit Pay
- Garmin Pay
This enables secure, contactless payments at physical points of sale using smartphones, smartwatches, and other NFC-enabled devices.
Note: Tokenized cards replace the actual card number with a unique device-specific token, enhancing security for mobile payments.
