Card Token Drafts are the initial step in the digital card issuance process within the CleverCards Platform. A Card Token Draft acts as a configurable placeholder for a future card token, allowing businesses to predefine the value, recipient, and conditions under which the token will be issued.
This mechanism enables precise control over the creation of digital value before it is made available to end users. Drafts can be reviewed, updated, and finalized—ensuring compliance with internal business rules and external regulatory requirements.
Typical use cases include preparing rewards for employees, setting up batch disbursements for customers, or staging insurance payouts that are only issued once specific conditions are met.
By introducing a draft state, the CleverCards Platform adds a layer of flexibility and control, empowering organizations to design, validate, and approve value disbursements before funds are committed.
Once finalized, a draft is converted into a Card Token, which can then be issued to recipients and redeemed to activate a digital prepaid Mastercard.
Available Operations
The CleverCards API supports the following operations on Card Token Drafts:

Create a card token draft – Define a new draft with value, recipient, and optional metadata. -
GET /card-token-drafts/{ card token draft Id}
Retrieve a card token draft – Fetch details of a specific draft by its unique ID. -
PUT /card-token-drafts/{ card token draft Id}
Update or finalize a card token draft – Modify draft properties or submit the final version of the draft to create a Card Token, depending on the draft's current state and the fields provided. -
DELETE /card-token-drafts/{ card token draft Id}
Delete a card token draft – Remove a draft that is no longer needed or valid. Only drafts in a non-finalized state can be deleted.
